Skin redness

I noticed this morning that DS has red skin all on his tummy; it has little bumps, too.  It doesn't seem to bother him, but I think it looks bad.  The only thing I can figure is that last night while we bathed him, we put a washcloth on his tummy to keep him from scratching himself, since he does that ALL the time while in the bath.  So I'm wondering if perhaps the cloth got too warm and gave him a burn?  If so, do any of you have recs for treatment?  Like I say, he hasn't seemed at all bothered by it, but I feel horrible.

Was there any soap on the washcloth?

I believe so.  We've been using the Aveeno stuff for him and I'm pretty positive it had soap in the cloth.
