Baby Names

How many syllables is your babies name?

I'm just curious how many syllables your LO's name will be with the first and last name together? We have been considering a 4 syllable first name (Elizabeth) to go with our 3 syllable last name and it just seems like a lot of name. Thoughts?

  • Both are 4 syllables.

  • First name is 3 if you say Sophia (which I don't Stick out tongue)

So 2 and 2. Sophie LastName.

  • We have a long 3-syllable last name so we will try to go with a shorter 1 or 2-syll first name.

  • Our baby's name is still undecided, but the first name won't be more than two syllables (to go with our two-syllable last name). Growing up, my name was six syllables total (three in the first, three in the last) and I hated how long it took me to get the whole thing out when asked for my name. I'm definitely keeping that in mind when choosing the name for my child. Don't want her to be as uncomfortable with her name as I was!

  • 2 & 1, his entire (F,M,L) name is only 4 syllables!

    DD's entire name is 5.

  • BG isn't named yet, and we've been all over the board.

Last name is Gregory, and we've had...

    Elizabeth Marilyn

    Eleanor Kaylyn

    Sabrina Kaylyn

    Tessa Reese

I'm not sure what we'll eventually come up with, but even with the mouthful that Elizabeth Marilyn Gregory would be (10!), I still think it flows ok.

  • 2 syllables and last name is 1 syllable. Middle name is 2 syllables. Since our last name is so short, I actually prefer for the next child to have a 3-4 (Elizabeth, Caroline or Zachary) syllable name.
  • first: 2
