Re: Clicky poll re: BFPs from newbies

  • I vote to announce but I'm not going to lie some days it makes me a little sad that I'm not announcing a BFP also. Doesn't mean I don't want to hear about them because I most certainly do. :-)
  • I've learned that this board is not as catty as some others.  Please post your bfp.  I also like to see the ways and means by which people become pg - other than having sex.  LOL  Meaning if you used meds or went natural and used herbs, witchcraft, whatever. Wink

  • Though many of us have IF here because of age or other reasons, this is not an IF board.

I have IF but I am happy for anyone over 35 who gets a BFP, regardless if they've been trying for one month or 36 months, or if they've been posting here for one month or 3 years. I think its wonderful if someone our age has no issues TTC and a healthy pregnancy. I am not offended but encouraged.

  • ALL bfps are welcome on this board!

  • I am a newbie as well and haven't been TTC for that long at all, and I really appreciate you posting this poll.  I am anxiously awaiting input from the "regulars" here, as I don't want to offend - I probably would have not posted my BFP at all because I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings.
  • ...very interesting poll!  I think posting BFP is a good thing.  Just because someone is a newbie to this board, does not mean they are new to TTC or IF.  Our (a newbie's) desire to have children or the sting of a BFN is no less than anyone else who may have been posting longer - they just lucked out and found this incredible board before we did!

And it may be a little sad for me personally because we have been TTC since 2007, it is encouraging to see success stories.  I like to hear when women who are similarly situated get BFPs.

TTC since April 2008. DH: severe MFI; IVF w/ICSI X 2 = BFN. SAIFW!
  • I am a kinda newbie and I would love to hear about the bfp's it keeps my hopes up
  • I love to hear about BFPs, makes me daydream about mine Smile
  • I like reading the BFPs.   BUT (tiny disclaimer here) I get a lot more excited about someone who I feel I "know".   Usually I tear up a little when I hear about someones BFP when she has posting throughout her journey.

If it is a BFP post from a newbie I prefer when she includes a lot of detail about her story.

Ditto.  Most of the time I love hearing about BFP's.  The days and/or situations when I can't handle it I either stay away from the Bump or simply back out of the post with no comment.  Like Mrs. K. just said, I do get a more excited when it's someone who I know has been around awhile, but this is a fine place for all +35'ers to post.

  • The totally drive by BFPs (like when it's their first post ever or they've never posted on the board before) don't bother me at all, but I don't respond to them either.

I get it when people equate it to walking into a grocery store and yelling it down aisle #10  " Guess what! I am pregnant!!!".  That's great and all, but  don't know them from Adam  - so I really don't feel the need to congratulate them.

I'll save the jumping up and down for the girls I do know!

  • I voted YES to hear about all the BFP's regardless of length of stay here and trying.  I know that I have not been on here for any great length of time, however, I feel a certain bond to you ladies in that we all have a story to tell?  KWIM?  Even though, as I said, I haven't been here long, and I don't know you ladies personally, I delight in reading about your BFP's!  I have been pregnant before, and I know that feeling so well!  When you read that positive result, you are floating!  I would not be the person that I am if I didn't get excited for your happinesses!  (Is that a word?  lol)  So post on you fine ladies!!!!!!
  • I voted yes, but mostly because I'd only been posting here for a few weeks when I got and posted my BFP about DSEmbarrassed

I was new to The Bump and didn't realize it was taboo.

    ...and this!!!

Cat and MrsK sum it all up for me.  The ones that really get me are the girls that post one or two times...get a BFP...talk about how supportive that we all are in their post....and then run like their hair is on fire to the tri or pg+35 boards.  That is what I find rude.  Now I know that their are quite a few lurkers out there...hell I lurked for about 3 months before I outed myself....so you may feel like you know us, but we do not know you.

  • This is a great post. I wouldn't have posted if I had a BFP in the near future before because I wouldn't have wanted to offend. I probably would now - if I should get one.

  • I was curious to see people's responses to this poll as well. I realize that I was fortunate in getting pregnant my first cycle, but I also am very supportive of others who are TTC as well. I know that I could very well m/c and be trying again as I am only 5 weeks in. That probably sounds awful for me to say, but I know it is a possibility.  I think it all depends on delivery, say if you are "flaunting" in an obvious way. Also as another said, if you all out abandon the board.
