I am bringing the cake to my dad's birthday party tomorrow in CT but we'll be doing a whipped cream frosting so I obviously can't do that today. I just baked it.... How do I keep it moist until tomorrow?
saran wrap - i've done this with great success with like pumpkin breads and such - it actually seems to increase moisture content.
i'm glad to hear you'll be frosting it eventually though because my return question was BUT WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO?!!! lol.. because i'm a frosting FREAK. :-D
You might not all want this cake... its a Depression Cake - egg-free and dairy-free. It's actually pretty good as far as that sort of cake goes but it doesn't compare to a proper cake really. BUT my nephew has allergies so there we go. It's pretty much what we always have. And the reason for the whipped cream frosting. Real frosting on one of these babies is SUPER heavy.
I ended up making an orange simple syrup (since I had an orange lying around that wasn't going to get eaten anytime soon) and then wrapping twice in saran wrap. Then I put it in a cloth bag ready for transport tomorrow morning. Hopefully the cloth bag part doesn't do anything funky. I wanted to put them in a tupperware but I didn't have one big enough to fit both layers....
