Name War - who's winning?

Every name I mention my husband doesn't like. I just don't know how we're going to decide. How is it working for you?

Re: Name War - who's winning?

  • PP- I LOVE your siggie!

OP- Compromise? I got lucky that Nate liked the names that I liked!

  • Neither...we're going with a name that we both like but don't love, and we're hoping that it grows into a name that we both love.  It does have a significant meaning for us though.

  • I won the war... but it took a lot of blood sweat and tears let me tell ya...
  • I won on the first name (we were at war BIG TIME) and let him choose a coordinating Middle name. Thankfully he did choose a name I suggested . So I won all around lmao!

  • Whenever I mention the names that I like , he is QUICK to tell me yes or no. If he says no I just drop it because a.) he won't budge and b.) I'd never want to name our child something that he dislikes so much.

Theres so many names that I adore that he claims he just can't stand. It's a bummer but oh well.

  • I;m with you-my husband hates all my names and Im not a huge fan of his names. Who knows what we will end up with!

  • We've been talking names since before we were engaged. We have really similar taste in names, but every now and then one will get suggested that one of us doesn't like - more often than not, it's him doing the vetoing. We'll end up choosing a name we both like, and hopefully love.

  • i've already chosen names, although i did get feedback from him. it helps that he doesn't hate any of the names i have chosen for our first few children but he understands that everything dealing with our children is ultimately my choice.

  • I actually got pretty lucky...we agreed on four names (two boys, two girls) before we even got married. Of course, if we end up having three of one gender, we'll see how that goes.

We hadn't decided on middle names for some of them, though, but I'm not as attached to the ones I like that my DH doesn't.  So it's not much of a war.

Ditto. I can't imagine naming my child a name that my husband dislikes. I think that's so disrespectful and rude. There has to be at least 1 name that both of you slightly like.

  • We finally found a name we both liked at around 36 weeks.
  • Compromise. I get final say for a girl name and he gets final say for a boy name. The only stipulation was that other person had to at least like it.

  • Dh told me to make a list of names I like and he would tell me what he liked and didn't like! He wasn't crazy about Preston but I won that battle! We almost named DD Morgan but he really really wanted Jordan and i didn't want that for a girl so my mom came up with Jordana and we loved it! Brady I picked too and he loved it!

If i left the nameing to DH i would have a son name Vette as in CORVETTE NO WAY that was going to happen
