S/O to couponing: Walgreens and CVS

Are also great places to save money. CVS has an extra care bucks program where you get money back (on a credit receipt) to use your next visit. CVS had Gillette Fusion razors that come with 2 razor blades that DH uses on sale for $9 and you get $4 in ECB back. I had a coupon for $4 off it. So, I essentially paid $1 for 2 razor blades for DH.

Walgreens had the same exact deal w/ razors I use except my coupon was only $2 and I got $4 to use at my next visit.

So, if you use your rewards $ for another item that gives you more rewards $ (along w/ using your coupon of course) you just stay in this cycle of everything being free or practically free.

  • Yeah, I have the best luck at Rite Aid but Walgreens and CVS are pretty good, too. I use moneysavingmom.com and southernsavers.com to help me find the best deals each week. They make it so easy!

  • I stalk CVS ads! I'm so mad at Walgreens right now after that coupon disaster the other day... although I did go up the street to the other Walgreens and clean them out of Dove body wash and Huggies!

    what disaster? do tell...

  • Yeah, what happened?
I sent DH there to take advantage of their diaper deal since it's on his way home from work and they totally gave him a hard time about it and he ended up paying more than he should have. Boo to Walgreen's. :(

  • The manager told me that she didn't accept coupons and that they were fraudulent. I ended up leaving everything I had on the counter. I called Walgreen's corporate and they didn't seem to care. They took down my name and number and said the district manager would call me the next day, but of course he never did. I feel like it's an unwritten Walgreen's policy to give customers a hard time about coupons. This is the second time I've had trouble with them and the first time the manager of a different Walgreen's told me that I was backing up the line, like it was my fault that he didn't want to take coupons.

I had a hard time yesterday at Walgreens.  The cashier lacked communication skills and could not explain why I could not use all of my RR and my coupons.  Turns out that you can't use more coupons than the number of items you are purchasing.  RR also don't cover sales tax either.  STUPID!  They have great deals but they put so many restrictions on how you use them.  Nothing is for free!!  That should be their motto...

  • I learned that lesson the hard way too! I've learned to get filler items without a coupon. I usually need milk, so milk is a good filler.
  • I even did that and it wasn't enough!!  The girl didn't even tell me I could buy one more thing and it probably would have been fine.  Things would have ended alot better!!  I wrote a long email to Walgreens about it.  I doubt that I will get any acknowledgement back but I sent it anyway.
