I had the most unpleasant experience with my old OB. I was just wondering if it is normal or did I just get unlucky.
First, when I came in, they questioned me about past history in the hall, while other patients were going in and out. WHich is a violation of HIPPAA.
Then the OB was rude, even laughed at me a couple of times. Well, it is my first baby and I might not know much about pregnancy, it's not something to laugh about. Then she said I need to come in every 4 weeks and also sent me for NT Scan to a diagnostic center. I did make it clear that I can only do morning appointments (the earliest) because afterwards I have to run to work and it's very inconvenient for me and that I'd prefer to have appointment as rarely as possible.
So my next appt. was 2 weeks after my NT Scan appt. When I came in the OB didn't really do anything with me, she didn't even do internal exam saying that she does not want to "tamper" with me since the doctor who did NT scan already checked me out. Then she said she wants to see me back in 2 weeks, not 4 as she previously stated. And when I aske dwhy, the reply was "because I did not do internal exam today, so I will do it in 2 weeks"
And that was AFTER I explicitly stated how difficult it was for me to go to any extra appointments. What the hell was wrong with doing internal that day since I was already there???? Ever appointment I have means I will get to work 2-3 hours later than usual and it will take me 2-3 hours longer to get home since I am using public transportation, so I prefer to just have 1 appt. every 4 weeks and nothing in between.
After being overly stressed out with that OB I decided to switch and switched to another OB office at the same hospital. And guess what?? When I called old office to transfer my records to new office, the old office told me I have to pay $1.50 for each page of my records from their office. Including the old records that came from my original gynecologist office!!! Which were like 100 pages. That would total to more then $100 bucks for the records that were not even theirs to begin with!
So what I did is paid them for 15 pages they had on me, contacted my orignal Gyno and asked him to send me his records AGAIN.
It took them 3-4 weeks to process my request and finally I was out of there. I only had 3 appointments at that office and two of those I paid the co-pay, one time with credit card, and one time with cash. Third time I don't remember.
Then I got a bill for $75 ($25 for each appt.). I called them and said that I paid for two of those and that I have a proof for one on my credit card statement. They connected me to billing dept. which said I have to pay $75. After I told them I have a proof for paying for 1, they admitted that they have a record of it and I only owe them $50. In reality it is $25 but there is nothing I can prove sine I paid cash that one time.
I am so glad I am no longer with them. I transferred to another group right next door from the first one and so far I am very happy. I was just wondering if anyone had a similar experience with OB and whether it was a common practice to do such things
Re: Vent about OB
Whew.. Glad you found someplace better.
So I guess it's just me who got that lucky:)
Hopefully this OB will be good. SO far they've been great. Funny but I saw some good reviews on my old OB. I don't get it
Btw, cminNJ, have lots of fun on your anniversary cruise!

Just to give you a heads up your apts will soon change to ever 2 wks and then to every week. Can't remember when every 2 weeks started, I know every week started at 36wks for me.
I went through Abington Primary Womens Healthcare (a mouthful I know)
Just a guess.....Hahn OBGYN & Associates in DCCH?? lol
Actually it was not them. Why, you had an unpleasant experience with those?
