I've been testing for a few days and no matter what I do my fasting number is not below 95. The highest it's been is 108, the lowest is 100.
I have a doctor's appt on Friday so I will have been testing for a week by then. My after meal numbers have been fine - with slight elevations of no more than 122 - should be under 120.
How long did you have higher fasting numbers before you were put on medication?
Re: How long before you were put on Glyburide?
A week before they offered it. My fasting number was always b/t 113-120. They weren't messing around!
Was your fasting number the only number that was elevated? How many times a day do you use insulin?
Yea, my fasting # is/was the only problem. And 2 times a day, night & morning.
I'm starting to see a little increase in my breakfast #s but they haven't said anything to me about it yet, so I'm not sure if something will change soon!
About 2 weeks after diagnosis I was started on oral medication (Glucophage/Metformin) twice daily. My fasting numbers were still over 100 about 2 weeks after that, so we added Lantus insulin at night. The insulin is what finally brought my fasting numbers below 90.
