Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Delayed reaction to immunizations?

Wondering if DS is having this? We got his 6 month shots last Monday, and everything was fine (i.e., no fever/reactions) until Friday. He has been sleeping through the night for the last two months, and then on Friday he screamed and screamed and screamed. He did this last night too. Tylenol didn't help. He would only get comfy if mommy or daddy rocked him or if we gave him a bottle.

Is it possible it's a delayed reaction from the shots or is it teething? It's so confusing because he hasn't done the fisting and chewing on things for a while, so we thought maybe it wasn't teething but he's doing it today. Also, we started green beans on Wed. and thought maybe that was it too. Not sure.

I so wish he could talk to us and tell us what's wrong Crying Hoping for a full night of sleep tonight....

Re: Delayed reaction to immunizations?

  • could be teething...could be growth spurt... 6  months has one. hope it doesnt last long.

I know at 6 months he woke a bunch for a week or so and wanted to eat every time.

  • Poor baby! I don't think it is the immunizations. The ones they get at 6 months rarely cause reactions. Has he had a cold? Could he have an ear infection? Maybe try Motrin next time.
  • We had that issue with DS for two nights so we went into the doctor and he ended up having a double ear infection!

Also, could be teething, DS had some rough nights due to that.

  • Yes, I agree with the others, it's probably teething or an ear infection.  I seriously doubt it would be the shots after 4 days.
