Good books to read about sleeping?

Any ideas?

Although I found Mitchell and Cameron's experiences with the Ferber method hysterical on Modern Family, I'm hoping for some other suggestions, too.  :)

Re: Good books to read about sleeping?

  • I liked Baby Whisperer and the pick up/put down method for sleeping.

It's funny, I guess I thought I 'knew it all' before having DS, but honestly it never dawned on me before reading it that when you pick a baby up to comfort, it doesn't mean you have to keep him in your arms, sing, walk the floor, rock...you can still give love and comfort and then put baby back down...and I could go back to sleep!! He never cried it out until about 6-7 months (one or two crappy nights), but the positive routines were already established and he derived so much comfort from them.

For other, pick up/put down hasn't worked (doesn't seem to for older kids) and I understand that some don't like the advice on nursing in the book.

  • I've read both Babywise and Secrets of the Baby Whisperer.  I thought Baby Whisperer was an easier read, but they're actually pretty similar methods (as far as Feed, Waketime, Naptime goes).  LO slept for 7 hours straight last night and has been sleeping really well since we started it.
  • Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child is a good one!
