I will start weekly 17p shots on friday and am wondering if there are any side effects? Also wondering if most people self administer or have hubsand administer at home? Any info is welcome. TIA!
I've had no side effects other than a sore bum :-) I have my husband give them to me (the nurse at the OB taught him how). Big tip: they hurt a lot LESS if you ice the injection site ahead of time!
I didn't have any side effects either! I started out going into the office to get the injections but when I started to get hit w/ copays I had a nurse friend give them to me. Good luck!
No side effects here and I haven't had any pain with mine either. I have a nurse who comes to my house weekly to administer the shot, do a doppler check and take vital signs.
She suggested if I had trouble with soreness to ice 15 minutes before getting the shot and use a heating pad afterward but not to rub the site. I haven't had to do either of these though. GL!

This is interesting...my nurse told me to rub and massage the site afterward, not for the pain, but to make sure the medicine gets in the right spot and doesn't form a bump.
I totally agree about icing the spot for 15 minutes prior to the injection. I'm a nurse so before I was put on bedrest I had my coworkers give them to me, now I have my husband or my mom do it. I can't muster up enough courage to give myself an IM injection. I have some itching at the injection site and sometimes I get a hard knot for a few days after. It's also sore for a couple days too. I hated them at first, but now it's not as bad. The ice makes a HUGE difference.
I'm a nurse so I have a coworker give them to me or get them at my office visits. I wouldn't attempt to give one to myself.
This is my 2nd pregnancy doing them and I've never had any side effects other than soreness at the injection site for a day or less, but usually I don't even have that.
My husband gave them to me! I didn't have any side effects! My Dr.'s totally believe that the reason why I made it to 36 weeks was because of the 17p shots! I went into labor two days after my last shot!
I am 32 weeks and have been on them since week 17. Other than the soreness mentioned, I think that they make me extremely tired for a couple of days. It could just be from the pregnancy itself, but I really think it's the shot. Since I practically live between my peri and OBs office due to all of the appts, I have just been getting them when I am there.
