Photography girls?

If you could pick either of these camera/lens packages for free, which would it be? 

 - Nikon D3000 10.2 MegaPixels with stock 18 mm - 55 mm - f/3.5-5.6 G Nikon AF-S DX VR and 55 mm - 200 mm - f/4.0-5.6 G Nikon AF-S DX VR telephoto lens

or

 - Canon EOS Rebel XSi 12.2 MegaPixels with stock Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS lens

I'd go with the Nikon, but Nikon's what I know.  If I were going to get a Canon I'd get a 5d mark ii

I REALLY like my Canon Rebel and moreso than I liked the Nikons when I was looking, but if I got it for free, I'd go with the one with more lens!

I'm a Canon girl so it kills me to say it, but I'd get the Nikon kit.  You'll enjoy having the extra lens especially with kids.  The longer lens will definitely come in handy more than the extra MP.

MP's really mean jack-all. Ignore it unless they're ridiculously low.

I'd save my $$ and get a Nikon D90, but since that's not what you asked, I'd be more apt to do the D3000.

If money were no issue then I'd def buy the 5dmarkii, but if it were a freebie then I'd certainly go with the one with more lenses (useful ones).  I'm sure the Canon Rebel is fine, but I know the nikon is nice and more lenses can be advantageous in the long run...especially free ones.  And pay no mind to mega pixels!
