i know it is easier said than done, but please don't worry until you know that you have something to worry about.
they are just covering all their bases by sending you for a level 2...and it's a good thing. There is still a pretty good chance that it is nothing...and if it is something, at least they saw it on the ultrasound...and wouldn't have to figure out what was going on after birth.
if your LO does have some sort of condition (although i'm sure shes fine)...and least you can meet with neonatologists and pediatric cardiologist while you are still pregnant...AI DuPont and CHOP both have good cardiology teams. and you would be amazed at interventions that can be done even while still in utero!
What the tech saw is and EIF (echogenic intracardiac focus). Its usually just a prominent papillary muscle, but in rare cases it can be a soft marker for DS. (Not trying to freak you out, but if you google it that is all you will read about.) Most of the time it is a normal thing that is seen and means nothing. If you don't have any other markers (family history, etc) than you should have nothing to worry about. The Dr. will just want to have another ultrasound to see for sure. If it is just a prominent papillary muscle it won't cause any problems. We went through the same thing after our big U/S and the pediatric cardiologist was very reassuring. Don't worry over it. I'm sure everything will turn out normal. Prayers and GL!
