i'm due with my first this spring so I've been looking at this a lot lately. We looked at daycare centers only and the most expensive I found was $250 a week. We ended up with a place that's about $165 a week. These are prices for infants, if your children are older, the cost will be slightly less.
Good luck in your search if you end up down here. I'm a northerner too, but I have quickly grown to love the south!
What part of town? That will influence the cost a lot. The daycare center we liked was $250/week but we live in the suburbs (it's more expensive in town). We ended up going with a nanny which runs about $550/week.

I think it really depends on what area of Atlanta you are in. I'm in Smyrna, right outside Atlanta, and we are paying $165 a week for infant care. And there are places in my area that charge over $200 a week. But that's just in my area of town.
Ditto on the area of town. It varies greatly. I looked at daycare in buckhead and it was near $1500/mo. I also looked in Alpharetta and it was about $1100/mo. I live in Woodstock and down the street from me its $900/mo. That's all for Goddard School. Same school, different location, different price. The rents of the buildings highly impact your costs.
Depends on where in the city/outside the city you live. We live in midtown atlanta which is way more then outside the perimeter. For Bailey's full time infant care we pay $1480/month. We have to provide formula, diapers and baby food but once he goes on table food they will provide that. The range when we were looking around us was $1260 to $1750 so we're middle of the range.
We're ITP (inside the perimeter) and pay $180/wk for a 1-yr old. Price goes down to $170 when she moves to the 2-yr old class. No meals are provided (except snacks).

Ours is $200/week per child for two children, but it's our on-campus employees'-children-only daycare and they just break even charging that. It's pretty comparable to other daycares we researched in the area (Dunwoody/Sandy Springs/Brookhaven).
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
We are at a center and pay $171 per week for full time toddler care. Infant price was $181 per week. I live in a suburb too and this was one of the lowest costs we found. I'd say average was $200-225 per week. Good luck!

Thanks everyone, I'm glad I asked, it cost a lot more there then where we are at. I'm not sure what part we would move to. He would be working for a university.
I pay around $300 a week, for two kids, and that includes my discount. I also live about 30 minutes south of Atlanta so that also means it's quite a bit less.
I pay $175 a week for the toddler room. Includes meals. This center is located near the airport (where we work)-but we actually live a lot farther north in Acworth and prices are fairly comparable up there too. If you plan on using a center inside the perimeter, be ready to pay a lot more and those usually have a wait list.
