Burping sounds like choking

Sometimes when I burp my 2 week old he'll let out his burp and then all of the sudden it will sound like he is coughing/choking. I continue to pat on his back when he does this but it scares me to death and I panic thinking he can't breath and is choking. Does anyone else's LO do this? I don't know if it's the formula, the position I am burping him in or what. Any advice would be appreciated!

My LO used to do that when she was small. She usually spit up when she did that; maybe there's a little bit of spit up in his throat and he re-swallows it. They're still getting used to everything. Do you have your 2 week checkup with the pedi soon? You could always call, too, just to make yourself feel better.

Mine does that, and it is very scary, but I just sit her up and lean her over to clear her mouth, and she's fine. 

And, I totally agree, that LO is totally just learning this sucking/swallowing thing, so there are bound to be 'hiccups.'
