Good place to buy playroom storage furniture?

We just converted our living room into a playroom, and now we're looking for some kind of storage to hold the kids' toys, books, and craft supplies. I'm thinking of something similar to this, but smaller and MUCH cheaper:

Any ideas on where to go for something like this? Thanks!

  • The Ikea Expedit bookcase comes in several colors. The 5x5 cubby version is $199. They have a ton of different bins and boxes sized to fit the openings.

  • WOW! That is nice and then I saw the $$$. I bought some storage units from Ikea, but the quality probably won't be equal to that.

  • It's pretty decent quality. Winery bought one, and it looks great. I've seen it at her place.

You're not looking for heirloom furniture, are you? It's playroom storage.

  • Yeah, we just need something functional (although my house would be filled with Pottery Barn stuff if we had the money!). We'll have to check out Target and Ikea. Thanks!

  • LOL.  I was going to suggest the PBK Cameron set, but then it was linked in your post :)

We also converted our formal living room into a playroom (best decision ever).  I searched and searched, but didn't find anything I liked as much as the PBK set.  We ended up dishing out the $$ over a year ago and we have been happy with it.  I love that you can mix and match and it looks nice and like real furniture (esp since it is right off the entry when you come in the front door).  We have two of the cubbies with doors, 7 cubbies and 3 bases that are open with a lip that hold balls and bats and stuffed animals, etc.  We also got the baskets and train table with rolling bins.  It is so nice to have toy storage that makes sense and is easy to clean up.  GL finding something cheaper, but if you can't, this set is a nice piece of furniture.

  • In case it helps, here is a quick pic of our LR converted to PR with the toy storage.

I can't get the insert pic to work so I just posted the link.

  • I second IKEA.  Also, I saw in the Target ad this weekend they had some nice 9 cube storage units in a dark wood color for $39.  The storage bins were $5 each.
