BFP & Question

DH and I got a BFP on Sunday- so excited!!!!  Anyway, I've had nausea all week but feel fine today.  Last night I had some minor cramps (which people have told me are normal).  Now I'm freaking out that something is wrong because I feel so good today- not tired, no nausea, etc.  Would you be worried or am I crazy?  My doctor can't get me in til 1/5/10 for my first appointment so I'm still at a point of disbelief....

Re: BFP & Question

  • Congrats!!!

Nausea doesn't start until 6 weeks for me. You were probably just excited/anxious before and that could have been causing it. And yep - cramping is normal and you could feel it off and on your entire pregnancy.

You're not crazy - you're just a first timer!! We've all been exactly where you are!

I think the only thing to worry about is if you see red blood. (I remember being to scared every time I went to the bathroom for the first three months!)

  • Thank you!  When I spoke with the receptionist at my OB she was like "how far along do you think you are?"  I said "I'm not sure because I wasn't charting- but my LMP was 10/28".  She says "OK...so you're about 7 weeks".  That didn't seem right so I was just going to wait until I see the doctor on the 5th.

I totally have that scared feeling everytime I go to the bathroom.  I'm so nervous something will happen- yet I'm telling myself not to stress because that alone will make things worse.

We're not telling family until Christmas Eve so I'm totally feeling like I don't have any girls to talk to about my irrational thoughts!!!  Thanks for the support.

  • Try not to worry. Symptoms will come and go. i was only nauseous for one week with my pg with Eve. .. and I had crazy cramps with her too.. I was SURE something was wrong.. but it was fine.. Its normal, I guess.. The nurse told me it was due to a few things.. 1) Increased progesterone will cause cramps, 2) The baby/uterus growing/stretching and 3)increased bloodflow to the area.

  • PS. I forgot to say congrats! Congrats! i'm so happy for you! If you start coming to our GTGs, your LO will have lots of friends to play with.. :) and yes.. if your LMP was 10/28.. you'd be 7 weeks.. which is right around when I was nauseous and crampy.

  • enjoy it.. i felt fine until about 8 weeks along and then i was nauseous and had major stomach issues.  all i remember is laying on my DD's bedroom floor all day!!
  • Firstly, Congrats! How exciting!

Second, I remember feeling the exact same way for my first pregnancy. I felt SO good that I was in complete disbelief until I went for my first appointment. You may be just that lucky to have no real extreme symptoms. Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months :)

I definitely will come to GTG's.  I hope to be more in the loop now that I'm going to be hanging out on this board- have to learn from the more experienced and wise!!!

If you last period was 10/28, then you are about 7-8 weeks along.  You start counting from the first day of your last period.  If you google something like 'due date calculator' you can find exactly that, a calculator that will give you your due date and how far you are along.  Every dr is different, but mine does an U/S around 7-8 weeks.

I wouldn't worry too much about how you feel today vs. yesterday.  With both my pgs I had very good days and very bad days right from the begining.  You may see some spotting, called implant bleeding, ( never had it so I am not totally aware).  But I think it would be in small amounts and darker in color.

    And Congrats!

  • Congratulations! Try not to worry! Like the other ladies have said, symptoms will come and go. It's all of the hormones raging through your body right now. Be thankful there's no nausea or fatigue right now - you may not have the luxury of saying that tomorrow or even next week.

I was constantly checking when I went to the bathroom, too. I had heard of others on here having m/c's and it really scared me. Just try to stay positive, and enjoy the crazy ride you'll be on for the next 8 months!

  • Congratulations!!  I felt the same way too so I think it's common :)  think positive!
  • Congratulations!  Everyone has pretty much covered it.  Try not to worry about it too much.  (I know it's easy to say, but harder to do)  There are tons of things to freak out about when you are pg, and most of them are completely normal!
  • Congratulations!  What exciting news!

My 1st pregnancy I didn't have a ton of symptoms at first. I was almost in disbelief that I was actually pregnant!
