How long after a D&C to have sex?

Hi all,

This is my second post on here. I lost our baby at just over 11 weeks, one week ago today.  I had a D&C on Dec 8th, although I believe I had been miscarrying naturally for a few weeks before that. We saw a heartbeat at 8weeks and 9weeks.

I have been lurking here for a week now and find you ladies to be positive, empathetic and knowledgable. I don't want to be a part of this group (I don't think any of us do!), but I am glad to find a place to share my feelings.

I didn't have any major bleeding or spotting after my D&C. Yesterday and today there has been almost nothing. Our DR said we could have sex when the bleeding stopped, or two weeks after the D&C.

 What are/did you ladies do?  Did you wait the two weeks, or do it earlier if the bleeding had stopped?

I had a stillborn daughter at 22 weeks, but also had a D&C to remove the placenta. My doc told me to wait 6 weeks, but I'm not sure if your case would be different. It is 3 weeks out for me and I am still spotting.

I was told to wait two weeks and we did.

Generally two weeks, unless your doctor says otherwise. They have you wait to have sex or use tampons to avoid infection.

I am 1w1d past lap and D&C. My discharge papers say to wait 1 week for "anything vaginal" which I am assuming includes sex. However I am still bleeding and sore from the surgery.

My Dr. has said we could start trying again after our first visit from AF but I wondering if we need to use condoms between now and then? He didn't say anything but I see many ladies mention that. I don't have another F/U until Jan 8th so I guess I better call the Dr. and see when I can have sex and if I need protection.

All my papers said to wait two weeks past D&E. However, I had my post op appt. at 10 days past, and Dr. gave us the green light than. She did however tell us to use condoms until AF showed up, and we were ready to TTC.

I was told as long as I had two weeks of no bleeding and soreness, I could do what made me feel good : meaning sex, working out, jumping jax - whatever. Even though I felt close to my DH, I didn't want to feel physically close for about a month.

We were told two weeks, but we did it at 9 days post surgery.  I'm not usually a hot mess, but I couldn't help myself.  :Hangs head in shame:.  Anyway, I wasn't bleeding & there was no pain or trouble after.  Talk to your dr.

I had our daughter at 21wks and a D&C 1 week later.  We waited until my post op visit 2 weeks after the D&C before we had sex.  I wanted to get the offical all clear from the doctor.

I was told 6 weeks.  Generally, you don't want to have sex until after the bleeding stops.  Some women are posting that their doctors told them 2 weeks.  I was still bleeding at that point.  I didn't wait the full 6 weeks either.  I waited until my bleeding had stopped for a week, which was around 4 weeks or so.

I was told to wait until 2 weeks after the bleeding stopped for sex, & to use condoms until after 2 normal cycles before TTC again.  I stopped bleeding within a few days of the D&C, but have had a day or two since with spotting or a clot.  (For me, I'm going to start the 2 weeks after the initial, longer bleeding phase because the wait for sex is killing me!!!)

We had to wait till my follow up appt which was a little over 4 weeks from my D&C.
