Dandelion leaf for swelling?

I picked up the book called "This is you pregnant" or something to that effect and was flipping through it and saw where they recommend dandelion leaf for swelling -- it's a natural diuretic. Wondered if anyone has tried this yet? It's not like a prescription diuretic (so it doesn't deplete your potassium), it's a natural herb. Anyone??

Re: Dandelion leaf for swelling?

  • All I'm doing is drinking a ton of water. My OB said that my body is retaining water in preparation for labor/delivery, so I don't want to artificially try and get rid of it.

  • it's actually Dandelion root that is a natural diuretic. I've taken in previously but I wouldn't be using it during pregnancy since usually water retention is usually to help you prepare for labor.

    Just drink lots of water!

  • I saw that, too, and was actually going to buy some but looked it up online before I did. As the pp said, it's actually dandelion root and the website I was looking at said the root is NOT safe while you a pregnant.
