I know I should know this. At L&D yesterday they said I was 3cm, 60-70% effaced and the baby was 0 station. I know what dilated and effacement is, but what does the station refer to? What does the 0 mean?

Let me put it this way - my baby is at zero and the nurse who was checking me could feel the baby's head with her hand. At zero,, they are almost ready to meet the world!

How fun! My OB said she could feel his head at my appointment. Now my cervix just needs to keep dilating and hopefully LO will be here soon. I feel so bad for DH, he was so so excited yesterday that we got sent to L&D.

Re: What does 0 station mean?
My baby is two!!! Baby girl 9/17/09
My other baby is still a baby! Baby Boy 11-30-11
Effaced is how thinned your cervix is.
I use this chart:
HTH!
Thank you for the chart! I'm a visual person, so that helps a ton to understand how this all works.
No problem! Its nice to have a visual when they're telling you something that sounds like another language! Lol!
OH, I'm so jealous!!!!! 0 station means baby is almost ready to make an appearance. Hope this link works:
