New to the Bump!

Hello!  I am new on here, but figured it might be helpful to ask some questions before we actually TTC.  We are thinking of TTC within the next year, but have no clue on how to go about finding a OB/GYN.  Do OB/GYN's only do the delivery, or do some also work as a pediatrician?  I probably sound wicked naive, I just really have no idea!

Is it normal to call around (depending on insurance, of course) and ask to meet with the doctor before actually paying them for a visit?  How soon before TTC should I get a OB/GYN?  BTW, I live in Gulfport--so if anyone knows of good docs in the Gulfport/St. Pete area, I am open for suggestions!  :)

    I know I posted on another post about this similar topic, but do you just called OB/GYN's and say, "Hi, I am trying to find an OB/GYN and I am wondering if I can meet with the doctor." ??  Is that normal, or weird?
