Baby to be delivered at 35 weeks 6 days

I had an amnio test yesterday to check for lung maturity.  Dr said lung maturity is measured at 55, and the baby measured at 119.  According to the dr, LO is ready.  So, I will be delivering him on Monday.  I can't believe he will be here already!  I know all babies are differenrt, just wondering what else to expect delivering this early.

A little background...I knew early on I would have to deliver this baby early since I was diagnosed with cervical cancer at 17 weeks.  I am happy that I have made it this far, just worried about the LO.  Thanks in advance!

Re: Baby to be delivered at 35 weeks 6 days

  • I delivered my girls at 35 weeks and 4 days due to BP issues. Both spent exactly a week in the NICU. Nether needed breathing support - they just needed to feed consistently & prove that they could maintain their temperature outside of an incubator. Each was 4lbs 12oz when they were discharged. They are just over 2 weeks old now, and doing well here at home!

    Good luck!!

  • Good luck on Monday!  I hope everything goes well so you can quickly address the cancer!

  • Hi, I'm not a regular on here, but I delivered my DS at 35 wks 3 days.  He was 5 lbs 11 oz and didn't need any NICU time.  He did have a hard time learning to nurse due to the combo of being small and being sleepy all the time, and he was pretty jaundiced, but other than that we didn't have any problems.  Good luck!!

  • My DS was born at 35 wks 3 days as well. He was 4 lbs 10 oz at birth. I had to be induced due to severe pre-eclampsia and ended up with a c-section. He spent 6 days in the NICU, two of those under the billi lights for jaundice. Otherwise, he just needed to eat and maintain his body temp. He was able to room in a little here and there and overall his stay was pretty easy for being in the NICU.

  • Glad to hear baby is doing well - good luck to you and let us know how it goes!
  • LO's FLM score was 49 at 32 weeks, at 33 he was born, breathing room air.  55 is considered mature!  Yeah for that...Sounds like he will do great!  sending good vibes...
  • I'm not a regular here, but DD#2 was born at 36w2d and was a good 6lbs.  No NICU or help needed.  We went home the next day.
