I know that the more you pump the more your body thinks that it needs to produce more milk... How about how long you're pumping, though? I pump for about 15 minutes every 3 hours during the day and during the night I'll pump about after a 5 hour period and then another 3 or 4 hour period before the day begins.
My baby drinks about 4oz every feeding now (she's 6 weeks old) and I am producing maybe 2 1/2 oz - 3oz when I pump during the day. I'd like to increase my supply so I can stop giving her formula (not that anything's wrong with it!) and give her strictly breast milk. Do you think I'm pumping enough for it? Or should I be pumping for longer periods?
Thanks for your opinions!
Re: Frequency vs length of time for pumping?
When you are trying to up your supply frequency is important. I relactated and I was pumping every 2-3 hours 24 hours a day to help increase my supply.
Pump about 2-3 minutes past your last drop and try to do it every 2-3 hours. Is your LO nursing or are you EPing?
I am EPing. Or trying to. Just recently switched to EPing because of BFing issues.
