BLW Question

I'm curious about stuff like mashed potatoes.  If LOs aren't supposed to have cow's milk until 1 year, should the not have mashed potatoes?

Re: BLW Question

  • You can make them with BM or water. But the small amount of cow's milk wouldn't be harmful - standard formula is made from cow's milk and cow's milk protein crosses into BM. It's just that large quantities of cow's milk can cause GI bleeding and anemia.

Holy sh*t!!  I assumed it was an allergy issue (like everything else).  I'll definitely make sure to watch how much cow's milk he gets!

  • DD has eaten plenty of things made with cow's milk - yogurt, cottage cheese, mashed potatoes with milk, creamy pasta sauce, etc.  However she isn't eating a ton of it, not even the size of her own fist.
