TTC After a Loss

For those who are temping

Do you log the full temp, say 97.43, from your thermometer, or just 97.4?

My BBT shows 2 digits after decimal when I temp, but I think TCOYF says you only need the first digit.  I temped for 3-4 months before m/c and used 2 digits, but thought I'd see what everyone else is doing.  TIA!

  • I round it a la TCOYF.  That's because I keep a chart on paper and you can only choose one digit.  I don't think either way would make a noticeable difference.  You're looking for the pattern of temps rather than at each specific temp.

  • I enter both. To me its more accurate that way.

  • I'm not temping, but I'm thinking about it.

Just a quick question- what does TCOYF stand for?

Also, is there a place to find all these abbreviations in one place?  I'm driving myself crazy trying to figure some of them out.

  • TCOYF=Taking Charge of Your Fertility.  It's a book that is a GREAT starting point for someone wanting to chart and understand their body better.

  • I usually enter both digits.
  • Thanks ladies.  I adjusted them in FF one month, a while back, just to see and I think it changed something (either O day or CH from dotted to solid, I can't remember).  FF seems a little picky about the temp shift to indicate ovulation.  Overall probably not a big difference, but the I though I'd see what you all are doing.

  • I have the thermometer that is "recommended" by TCYOF (it's a BD basal digital thermometer with a 1 temp memory).  It only records to the tenths (97.3).  That's all I've been recording.  When I first started temping, I had another basal thermometer (CVS brand) that recorded to the hundreths (97.33) and it died shortly after I started using it (and had no memory!).  HTH.

  • I'm temping also per TCOYF. I've had a hard time seeing a temp pattern ever since getting off the pill in August and especially after my MC earlier this month. Anyone else having this problem?
