Parenting after 35

Am I the only one that this has happened to?

I have sorta a wierd confession.  After I put DD to bed last night, I sat with LO on the couch putting him to sleep because I refused to let him CIO in the bassinet.  He just laid in my arms and just stared and smiled at me.  I started to cry and I am not sure why.  It wasn't a bad feeling, more of a I am thankful feeling.

Has this happened to anyone else?

TIA for letting me talk about this.

  • Oh yes! Sometimes I just bawl, not because I am sad but because I am so dang happy.

  • Totally! I'm not usually a crier, either.

  • Yes!  I cried the first moment I laid eyes on him, and it hasn't stopped.  Like you, I am so thankful.  They are happy tears.  Smile

  • Well, I AM a crier and I've done that too.

There are times I look at Aaron and cry, in a good way, because just over three years ago I thought I'd never get married (after a broken engagement) let alone have a child. And often I'm afraid this is a dream... it's weird. But I am so thankful for what I have.

  • Yep, I'm right there with you! It's usually a daily occurance. I have to tell myself, "put down the baby" and it's very hard. I stare at him for hours and look at God's creation. I am in awe. I am in love.

  • Last night, Jake woke up about an hour after he went to sleep, just screaming.  Like he was in pain.  I went up and picked him up and we sat in the glider, which we haven't sat in in a good month or so.  As he snuggled up against me to settle down, i realized how much bigger he was....the right arm of the chair is about 1/2" off the wall, and we just don't fit together without my arms over the chair arms anymore....and I started to cry like a little girl!

this. absolutely. i really feel she was gifted to me and in many ways i am so unworthy, but appreciative! If you ladies knew what was going in my life before and during the pregnancy and how much she HEALED me, you might be shocked.

  • Yup, on a regular basis!
    DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1.
  • Are you kidding?  I look at him and STILL have to pinch myself ...
