DIY mobile PIP

I am going with a "Starry Night" theme in the nursery. Using Van Gogh's Starry Night print as inspiration. And I was looking at mobiles on Etsy but was just not willing to pay upwards of 40.00 for them. So I figured I could probably manage to make a decent one myself for at least 1/3 that price. So here it is.

 

Tell me if you think it needs more stars. I was considering adding beads to the end of the lines to give it a little sparkle. But I am not sure.

    So cute!  How did you make it?  What is the apparatus that the stars hang from and how do you make it?  Very cute!

    The rings are two embroidery hoops that the hubby painted brown for me. I used fishing line to string the stars. I got a scrapbook stamper of a star that cuts out the star shapes so that they were all more uniform. Then I hand cut a few different size stars to give it some difference. Then I hot glued the stars to the fishing line and eventually just tied the fishing line to the embroidery hoops. I used two hoops because I wanted it to look more "full" instead of just having the stars on the outside of one hoop. Then I took brown ribbon and hot glued/clamped it onto the hoops to use to hang the mobile. It was pretty easy, but a little tedious.

    That is so awesome! IMO it doesn't need more stars, might start to look too busy then.. I love your theme, very original and very cool!

    Very cool -- when I actually have children I want to do a gender neutral theme in stars/moons. This is almost like the mobile I have planning in my head!

    Very cute!  And I don't think you need more stars, it looks great.  Are you having a boy or a girl?  I would probably only add beads if it was a girl - it might just be too sparkly for a boy.

    DS2 born still 8/28/13 at 32 weeks via emergency c-section due to a complete placental abruption - cause unknown
    Baby #3 on the way, EDD 2/29/16.  Originally twins, but we said goodbye to Baby B at 8 weeks.

    The mobile is beautiful.

    Your usage of the hoops are great.  No need for additional stars.
