Hello ladies! My husband and I just started trying to conceive our first and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on who they recommend (or even discourage against) as my obstetrician in the Lawrence area. Any ideas or feedback would be great!
I love my dr. Dr. Moreano. He is very direct, and can rub people the wrong way but honestly if he had not been so in charge of the situation my little guy may have died. He is awesome!!
Thanks so much for suggestion...I'm not pregnant yet but I have heard you need to book your first appointment several weeks in advance so just in case I want to get that part out of the way!
Count me in as someone who Dr. Moreno rubbed the wrong way. I moved to Lawrence during my 8th month of my first pregnancy...he started off fine, had the flu the day of my delivery and sent Dr. Gaumer in as his replacement...she was AWESOME! Saw Dr. Moreno for my 6 week post partum appointment and he was a complete jerk...at one point I even asked him if he thought I was stupid. (I was refusing to take birth control pills!). At the end of that very appointment I asked if Dr. Gaumer was taking new patients and switched to her. She delivered my 2nd son as well and I wish she was delivering my 3rd but we have moved out of the area.
I would actually suggest anyone in that practice with the exception of Dr. Moreno. Dr. Durland is sweet too.
Good luck and yes I would schedule something soon if you are thinking of conceiving that way if it takes longer than you thought atleast it's documented you've been trying.
Wow thank you for the advice simplycurlytoo. Were Dr. Guamer or Dr. Durland either helpful with natural birth (if you had one that is?) What clinic are they at?
Lawrence itself only has one OB/GYN clinic...Lawrence OB/GYN Associates I think it's located in the hospital or you can see their website at www.lmh.com . Dr. Gaumer was up for anything I was up for. It was totally my choice on what I wanted my delivery to be like. I never felt like they were pushing "drugs" on me. If I could plan it so I would just happen to be in Lawrence when I went into labor this time I would do it in a heartbeat. It was an great experience. At Lawrence Memorial Hospital I do know that if you did not watch the epidural video before hand during your registration at the hospital then you cannot get one during your delivery. But if you think yoiu might even want one watch the video just in case
My doctor is Dr. Kimuri. I am 9 weeks along and I totally love her. Her nurse, Debbie is wonderful too. It is like night and day with the doctor I had in Los Angeles and Dr. Kimuri. She is caring and very sweet. She is with Lawrence Family Medicine and Obstetrics. Good luck!
