**Update : Agency just called and they ARE going to sign our home study. They want us to come in when my husband gets back off the river (day before Thanksgiving) but i'm sure they'll be closed for the holiday. I'm going to see if they can go ahead and fax a copy of our home study to the attorney so we can get a jump on that. But we'll see**
So, we moved on to private adoption after the bad agency deal and I spoke to a law firm in Kansas City, Mo today on working with them.
I really liked them. They said they don't charge to show our profile and they do work with quite a few birthparents at a time. They get calls all the time and are about to expand their website to make room for those who look for information online.
She said they will send me an email to get some base info from me and then they'll just need a copy of our home study and a copy of our profile ... then they will start showing us to those who come in.
She said the legal fees all depend on the situation ... like if you're going to pay for living or medical expenses and all b/c they have to prepare paperwork for those things.
Called my SW to see if our home study got signed finally and it hasn't. Director is just waiting to check with the head director in St. Louis (possibly later today) to make sure that last bit of paperwork on DH's arrest was fine for the home study.
**Does anyone know if you can work with more than one attorney at a time? To have your profile being shown that is?**
