QOTW: What are you reading right now? Suggest your current or favorite read! If you are not reading a book, internet or other reading counts too!
Don't forget to post your updates. Where are you in your cycle? Waiting to O, 2ww, testing, procedures? Whatever you feel like posting!
Yay! I finally got the check in post back on my hard drive. As some of you know, I had a hard drive dump, and lost everything a few weeks ago. I am trying hard to get this back up and running. If I missed your add me post last time, please post again this week. I am giddy that it finally worked! Woot!
Re: ***Weekly Check In--11/9/09***
QOTW: What are you reading right now?
Eat, Pray, Love. So far, I highly recommend it, as does everyone else that sees me reading it.
I'm CD18, going in tomorrow for a post-coital test and then next week to check progesterone levels. I'll have that b/w done on what we think will be 7DPO, so I hope I get a decent number. I haven't seen any problems with my LP, but we'll see!
Ooh, I loved Eat, Pray, Love! Such a good book!
I just finished "Eat, Pray Love" Sully's biography. It was a gift, not my normal type of read. It was good. Ironically, we flew USAirways on our vacation. I am now reading "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren, and about to start "Running with Scissors" by Augustine Burroughs. Don't normally read this much but its overcast and windy on our vaca, so I'm getting a lot of downtime!
I'm in my 2ww. Waiting until next Sunday/Monday to test.
GL to all!
Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World by Joanna Weaver. It is actually pretty good, and it is has given me a healthier persective of loving God. I sometimes feel like I have to do a lot to be loved by other people, even God--it is just a little more healthier to be more like Mary.
I am in 2WW. My chart is really crazy. So who knows? It is all over the place.
I am reading lots of boring (to some) photography books. I want to learn my camera. Learning lots of great stuff!
I am 2ww. I am the most optimistic that I have been since February. I have some great symptoms going on right now, but I need to wait at least 5 days to test. I am antsy. Hopeful. Praying. Dying to POAS.
I'm waiting to O. Positive OPK today so I'm waiting for DH to get home from his hockey game.
I'm reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and Smoke & Murder by Elizabeth Lowell.
Good Morning Hav2run -
Can you please add me to the success list. BFP 10-20-09 (7 weeks now)
Thank you.

Update: ER yesterday; started Progesterone shots this morning; ET scheduled for Thursday 11/12 assuming all goes well!
QOTW: I am currently reading Harry Potter 5 (Goblet of Fire). My favorite recent read was The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield - I highly recommend it!
Blocked tubes due to ruptured appendix
IVF#1 Ectopic - tube removed; FET#1 CP; IVF#2 BFP!
Beta#1 13dpo 115; Beta#2 15dpo 248; Beta #3 20dpo 2215 U/S#1 6w1d HR 99; U/S#2 8w HR 165; U/S#3 10w HR 176 and moving all around!
Bedrest at 28 weeks due to preterm labor; released to modified bedrest at 34 weeks; released to full activity at 37 weeks
BabyNantucket born at 37 weeks 4 days 7lbs8oz 19in
Success is getting up just one more time than you fall down.
I am waiting to O, hopefully this weekend. I am on Day 9 right now.
QOTW: I almost ashamed to say that I've been hooked on Stephanie Meyers. I'm reading Breaking Dawn right now. Oh well, it's a fun, non-thinking kind of read. You've got to have that every once in a while, right?
I just finished reading Eat, Pray, Love too. Totally not what I thought it was going to be, but in a good way. I did enjoy it.
I had FET this past Friday, the RE tranferred 3 embryos, I'm trying to stay hopeful, but the freakouts have already started.
Good luck to everyone!
QOTW: I am reading The World Without Us by Alan Weismann. It's a science-based look at what would happen to the planet if humans were to disappear. I'm only about a 1/4 of the way through it, but so far, it's very interesting.
My favorite book of all time is Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver. I read it once a year. It is a bunch of intertwined stories about love, family, nature. Beautifully written. Her latest novel is just out, and I can't wait to buy it!
UPDATE: Can't really say for sure where I am in my cycle, because of the D&E about a month ago. I think I may have ovulated sometime within the past five days - tons of EWCM.
TTC update - I finally O'd! only had a 6 day LP though, so not enough for anything. I started taking my Vitex and my B6 again to see if I can at least get a 10 day LP, though I got pg with a 9 day one with my last child, so maybe that will be enough. I got AF, and now I am waiting to O again this month! Finally, progress!
What am I reading? Sci-fi nerd extraordinairre here. Otherland by Tad Williams...it's tech heavy, but good.
QOTD: I just got "infertility survival handbook" from amazon.com. I haven't started reading it yet though. my friend rec'd it to me.
I am 3 DPO
Good luck everyone!
Update: Well, I'm still in the game for IVF#3. RE says I need 4 follies over 1.0cm, and I've got exactly that. Smallest one at 1.0. As long as the keep growing we are on for ER this weekend or Monday. I am where I was for IVF#1 (4 follies), but the RE likes that all four are around the same size. With IVF#1, I had a runaway, dominant follie that threw everything off.
QOTW: I just finished Stolen Innocence by Elissa Wall, the woman who testified against Warren Jeffs. She was a member of the Polygomist cult forced to marry her first cousin at age 14. It was absolutely riveting and I highly recommend it!!
update-- well I'm staying in bed on OB's advice after some scary bleeding/spotting/cramping on Sunday&Monday. My RE checked me out yesterday & said baby's fine & everything looks good. I'm not bleeding anymore but I'm taking the day off because the OB said to & because who doesn't like a day in bed? It's been a big scare for me & DH, we're both pretty shaky now, but hopefully things will continue to be fine.
QOTW-- glad I'm not the only sci-fi nerd, I just started reading C.S. Friedman's In Conquest Born. A friend of mine was a fantasy&sci-fi novelist, Tom Deitz, and sadly he passed away this year, so in his memory, I'm reading my way through several books that he said influenced him.
I also have this book City of Z that just arrived & looks really interesting, but it's going to have to wait.
Hi! This is great! Could you please add me? I'm in DC and have been TTC since 12/08.
I'm reading Dragonfly in Amber (second in the Outlander series). I've really been enjoying it!
I had my lap & HSG on halloween. They found and removed stage 2 endo on my bladder & around my uterus, a polyp in my uterus and a cyst on my right ovary. They removed everything and my tubes were clear. So, I'm waiting for AF to arrive early next week so I can start clomid in preparation for my first IUI.
QOTW: What are you reading right now?
My aunt is in a book club and gave me a bag of 8 books. Right now I am reading a Romance, I never read these. Its Called winning All by Liz allison and Wendy Etherington (took 2 people to people to write it) actually its pretty good. I just read Nora Roberts called Tribute and it was really good.
I read at night to unwind and get my mind off things.
Don't forget to post your updates. Where are you in your cycle? Waiting to O, 2ww, testing, procedures? Whatever you feel like posting!
I am in the 2WW according to Fertility friend- says to test on November 25th. Its driving me crazy to even think about it!!!
Kristin
What I'm reading: Water for Elephants
Update: Stopped BCP and had baseline visit for starting IVF. Starting stims on Friday!
DMD1029-38, DC, TTC since 7/07
QOTD: Just finished Devil's Brood by Sharon Kay Penman - latest in her series about the English Plantagenet kings. This one is about the end of King Henry II's reign, including his last years with Eleanor of Aquitaine. I love her books! She is really a historical researcher who writes really good fiction instead of a good fiction writer who just happens to focus on historical periods (like Philippa Gregory), if that makes sense.
Update: Unfortunately, had a missed m/c and had a D&C yesterday. =( Looking forward to starting again in January.
IUI #1: December 2008 - BFN
IVF #1: Microdose Lupron - July 2009; only got 1 egg; BFN
IVF #2: Natural IVF - Sept 2009; BFP!; D&C Nov. 2009
IVF #3: Natural IVF - ER: Feb 4, 2010 - 1 "M2" egg retrieved; ET: Feb 9; Beta#1 (19dpo): 2567; Beta #2: 6933; BFP w/ singleton w/strong hrtbt! DS born October 2010
TTC#2
IVF #4: Natural IVF - ER: Nov. 20, 2011; ET: Nov. 25, 2011; BFP! Beta#1 (19dpo): 1918; Saw hrtbt on 12/28/11!
Update- I'm doing stims right now for IVF #2. I go for b/w and u/s tomorrow so I'll have a better sense of when and if ER will be- probably around the 18th.
QOTW: I think I have to go get Devil's Brood - I love historical novels. Someone just gave me Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I haven't started it yet but it was on the NYTimes best seller list so hoepfully it's good.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again
I don't know how I've missed this! I've been on here for quite awhile...
Anyhoo - I'm Dukos - 35 - IL - TTC (officially) since 10/09, charting since 6/09
I recently finished the best book - The Buernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society - it was sooooo good. Right now I'm reading The Crowning Glory of Cala Lily Ponder for my book club.
No real updates. I'm waiting to O. That should happen anywhere from Friday thru Monday. This past Sunday I started taking mucinex in hopes of getting more/ better quality EWCM. I think I might fix myself some green tea too. GL to everyone!
Hey there! Will you add me too.....
Name ~ Wheelber. Age ~ 36. TTCsince ~ Nov 2008. Location ~ Ohio
We are waiting on 1st AF since D&C in Oct. We were instructed to wait 2cycles before TTCing..... it's only been 26 days.... this is taking forever!
I'm in the two week wait - or, depending on how you look at it - the wait to start our first IUI cycle - provided the CF carrier test comes back on time. I have all the meds and needles at home - a bit intimidating...
A book I am reading now is The Committment by Dan Savage (the guy who writes the Savage Love columns). I like it - but his views on some things are pretty odd- for example, he thinks monogomy is overrated...
I don't think ever responded to this either!
Strunella, 40, NJ, TTC since 3/09.
I am currently reading Firefly Lane. It's a wonderful book about the friendship between two women from the time they meet at 13. I've also taken note of some of the books mentioned by pps to add to my list!
rabstbmom, 38, TTC since 11/09
(You know, I kinda wish I could change my name on here--the stbmom stands for "soon to be mom". I came up with it when I got my BFP in August but it feels a bit presumptuous since the m/c in September. Oh well, positive thoughts yield positive results, right?)
Update: I'm just waiting for the next AF. We decided to give ourselves a couple months before we tried again, so I'm not doing any "official" tracking until then. If my estimates are correct, she should arrive later this week, but the m/c was probably still too recent to predict for sure.
QOTW: I read the Guernsey Literary... for my bookclub. I'm chomping at the bit to read something else, but I've got another project going on, along with trying to read/review for a certification test next week. Probably won't get to anything new until Thanksgiving.
Hi all, can I join you from the infertility board?
I am 36, TTC since 7/08. I am currently undergoing my first IVF cycle due to severe endo and MFI... I am hoping it is our only one.. but I am prepared mentally to do more if needed.
I have been reading a ton. My last book was Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner- not my usual read but really good! Now I am reading 9 Dragons by Michael Connely- which I am enjoying. I started the new Dan Brown 'The Lost Symbol' and had a hard time getting into it...
I am currently not reading anything I have the new Dan Brown book, but have yet to crack it open yet.
update: one week post D&C...just playing the waiting game. We have our follow up visit with the RE on 11/17 so we shall see what the doc has to say and if he got any results from the testing he has done.
Status: Waiting to O. Should be next week.
I am reading "Life's That Way" by Jim Beaver. It is a very sad memoir written by a husband who's wife is dying of cancer. Very emotional read that makes you appreciate being healthy.
QOTD:
I am reading "Grown Up Digital". It's about the generation that is/has grown up online. More of a business book. BLAH!
UPDATE:
I am waiting to o so we can do an IUI. I thought for sure I'd o today (CD18) as usual, but I didn't. Hopefully tomorrow. This is my first cycle since a m/c so I am not sure quite what's up.
Hi! I've sort of dropped out of here. Partly because I'm in the small minority of people who don't want to read the pregnancy posts and mostly because I lost it when I had to "resort" to fertility drugs.
I had my first iui on Saturday. I don't believe it will work but we'll see.
As for what I'm reading? I'm studying for my Series 65 (Investment Adviser Rep). I guess I haven't suffered enough!
Good luck everyone! I do hope for the best for each of you. Even if I don't want to hear about it after. lol.
Please add me. I'm from PA & have been TTC since April 2007
QOTW: What are you reading right now?
The Shack
We just had a busted FET with donor embryos. I'm not so patiently waiting for AF to start so we can go ahead with the next cycle. We have 3 blasts left & the plan is to thaw & possibly transfer all 3.
"Cherish your furbabies today because there might not be a tomorrow"
Heaven has another angel. RIP Bubba 2/15/09 - 9 Months Old
Godspeed Apache "Boo Boo" 2/2/09 - 2 1/2 Years Old
Rest in peace my sweet Angel. 11/05/08 - 2 Years Old
Not much on the ttc front.
But I'm reading "The Visibles" and next up is "The Last Song" - nothing like a little mind candy after finishing "The Odyssey."
Yes,I'm smiling...I'm a marathoner!

Update: Nothing much. Should O today or tomorrow. Given that my RE said we have a 2% chance on our own each month, odds are slim that we will get a miracle BFP before starting IVF.
QOTW: I just finished Dedication. Chick lit, but quite good. I need to buy a couple of books for our vacation. I am going to have a look at some of these that you all recommended.
Update: I had a RE appointment yesterday and my lingering cyst is still there, after 58 days of bcp. The next step is to get a pelvic ultrasound to make sure it's not suspicious (ie/ possibly cancerous). They also took a blood test to check for cancer, and will call in a couple days with the results.
I was hoping to start an IUI before the holidays, but it's not looking good...
QOTW: The Kite Runner is one of my favorite books, so I started A Thousand Splendid Suns and so far it's great.
Update: I'm on stim day 6 with the co-flare protocol. It's a new protocol for me so I hope to have a much better response. I had 7 antral follicles on CD 2 and my first u/s isn't until CD 8 (Friday). I seem to be finding some sort of inner peace through out this whole process this cycle, most likely due to counseling and acupuncture I'm doing 2x a week for each.
QOTW: I haven't been up on my reading lately because I love to read in a bubble bath and haven't been able have my tubbie time due to the continuous problems with my girly parts and having to stay out of the water.
I have finished "Inconceivable" (a TTC journey about a woman with high FSH) and "A Few Good Eggs: Surviving the Insanity of?Infertility" if anyone is interested in reading them, I will mail them.
