Has anyone had cryotherapy to treat pre-cancerous cervical cells? What was it like? How was your recovery?
I had a colposcopy and biospy and am scheduled for the cryo in about 2 weeks.
I didn't feel right after the colposcopy/biopsy for about a week. Just crampy, bleeding...etc.
Re: Cryotherapy?
I'm guessing he prefers cryo.
It's aprocedure he does in his office. So by recovery I didn't mean as in out of work for a week or having to be in bed... but more like feeling back to normal... cramping... discharge etc.
I had it years ago - not for precancerous cells though. It's been so long I honestly forget what the reasoning was - I think something to do with random bleeding.
Anyway, if yours is the same thing as I had, the doc did the freezing thing (so technical) on my cervix. It took about 2 minutes and I had a tiny bit of cramping. I was fine right afterwards though.
Sorry hon. Had to prepare you. I had all the cells frozen off of my whole cervix so it depends. Like Gymn said hers took like 2 min. Mine took about 15-20. It felt like bad cramping, and I took 1 day of bed rest and then I was back on my feet! The cramping went on for like a whole week!
I didn't have Cryo, but I had LEEP and it was awful. I totally felt the first pass of the loop and about jumped out of the chair. He numbed me up some more, then it wasn't so bad. Crampy for about a week and spotting/discharge for about a month.
May or may not be the same for Cryo. I would imagine that cryo is less intense than LEEP, but I could be very wrong.
