Safety of Close & Secure Sleeper?

I know there's a huge debate over the safety of co-sleeping and that the sleep positioners with the wedges on each side of LO are considered a smothering hazard. But, has anyone talked to their pediatrician about the safety of the Close & Secure Sleeper? It's like a little travel bed (pretty much looks like a box) that you lay in bed with you. I'd assume it would keep the blankets off of baby's face and wouldn't let LO roll around.

Any thoughts??

  • We use something similar, the snuggle nest, but our LO wiggles down to the wedges so I removed the wedges.  Now its just kind of like what you posted and it works.

Our LO still wants to sleep with us though.  It didnt' change that.  I have just worked really hard on keeping him in his bassinet in the snuggle nest though and he fusses for a few minutes but I keep my hand on his chest and he settles eventually.

  • And FWIW my pedi ok'd us to use a sleep positioner with wedges when he researched what it was as he felt that the one we picked had breathable wedges.  I still didn't feel comfy with it though when LO was on the move.

  • We just bought this -didn't think about the positioners being dangerous. We are using it when we are up in our bonus room, not in our bed.

  • We use the safe and secure sleeper... LOVE it and so does DS. We put it in between us... but we each have our own blanket and one pillow each so nothing accidentally goes over DS. It works wonderfully for us.
