Trouble TTC

TTC / No O - clomid or BC?

After having 3 week long peroids, on a 31 day mensturation cycle, my GYN tested and realized I am not ovulating. I took one round of provera-- which did not cause a bleed for 6 weeks after I stopped taking it.

Her options to me are to be on clomid or to do a 3 month "round" of BC to see if it will regulate my peroid and cause ovulation again. Has anyone else ever heard of a GYN recommending a round of BC to help regulate your cycle and hopefully promote O? (I have been off BC for over a year with no conception, heavy peroids were first thought to be the result of hypothyroidism but that is now under control).

Anyone with experience with this issues, please comment. :)

  • I think you should see a specialist, (reproductive endocrinologist)
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • I agree, if you aren't seeing an RE, you should.  They are just better at dealing with this kind of stuff.

I personally wouldn't go back to the BCP.  I'd do clomid (and have) but make sure they are monitoring your response.  Good luck!

  • Make an appointment with an RE if you are even considering going on clomid.  Make sure you are monitored very closely!
  • I would say to go see a specialist. GYN's are famous for just prescribing meds, you and DH should have things checked out before you waste your time on other things. I did 2 rounds of clomid with no O before seeing RE, I felt so much better after leaving his office with some answers and a plan.

    TTC#1 with PCOS since 3/2009 2 surgeries to remove dermoid 7 medicaid cycles=BFN 3 IUI's=BFN IVM= BFP Twins- missed m/c @ 9weeks
