SOoooo the nurses in charge of figuring out my final cost for the IVF FINALLY contacted me today and gave me my total that would be due prior to the shared cycle.
I added $3K to the amount and put a request for a loan into another bank. I should know by monday if it was approved. The lady said to ask for more money than we need so that if its denied they will most likely offer me a lesser deal..which could still be around the total cost we would need.

Holy crap natural BFP(cycle 20)!!! - Beta#1 10/11 - 185 P-23, Beta #2 10/13 -499.8, P-35.7! Thyroid good at 1.13, Beta #3 10/18 5,854.6 P-30.6; Beta 4 10/25 - 39,500 p4 20
1st U/S on 10/18 - saw gestational sac! 2nd u/s (10/25) saw a tiny fetus and saw the HB flickering away! 3rd U/S on 11/2 measuring 2 days ahead HB 138! 4th U/S 11/9 - Measured 8w1d - HB 178! released from RE 11/16 U/S - HB 180 everything On track!

I'll be the first to admit I know very little about IVF, but it seems so common lately. With all that you're going through I wonder how so many people can afford it....often times more than one cycle!

its def. NOT cheap. Some practices offer different plans..but its always a gamble. The success rate with ivf is around 40%...its hard to imagine going through all of this then having a failed IVF cycle, while still paying back the loan and handling the heartbreak.

Baby Boy Owen and Baby Girl Avery were born too early on Feb. 13, 2011 due to a pedunculated fibroid, incompetent cervix and suspected placental abruption.

I didn't ask how they pay for it. I simply stated its a wonder so many people can get the loans or have the money at hand. As someone who's in the process of getting a mortgage loan I'm well aware of how hard it is to get a loan right now.

The O.P. didn't say that everyone should be approved for any loan that they want. And i'm also pretty sure that she knows that infertility is not an "option"...its a medical condition and it just doesn't seem fair that things like this can cost so much and there is no help. thanks all
As for the loan..its a personal loan. NOt a home equity or 2nd morgage.
Our cost is cut low enough that we are attempting the personal route.
Exactly! I just couldn't convey the message correctly! It's not fair that someone gets to approve or deny whether or not you can have a child. It's not the same as buying a car

i understand her point in saying life isn't fair. It's really not. But i do agree that it seems demeaning that MY desire to be a mother can be taken away by a health issue...and then when that one chance is there, it can be denied by a man sitting behind a desk who sees me as a credit score number. I suppose this is when years of savings would have to begin. Insurance companies really need to offer better infertility options to their consumers.
