Anyone know how to make a kindermat cover?

I want to cover my son's kindermat for his school. I really want to make it but can't find a tutorial anywhere.

I'm sure this will be like trying to find a needle in a haystack, but does anyone happen to have a tutorial or know how? TIA

I would make it like a big pillow case.   Super easy.  Trying to do elastic would be a big pita.

maybe this would be dumb put could you get a nice quilted piece of fabric and then sew 2 pieces of elastic to the back so it could slip over the mat?  I don't so so I am thinking of something super easy.
