Pregnant after a Loss

anyone else feel this way? RE: induction

with DS i had literally the perfect pregnancy, no m/s nothing until my last u/s where the fluid was low nd they decided to just admit me since i was 39wks. it came as a suprise but in the end ll went well. now with this pg i alredy know i'm being induced a week early because of the heparin and my Dr. wnt to keep an eye on me with that. i have no problem with being induced but i feel like i'll be missing out on the whole going into labor thing. i don't know maybe i'm crazy because on the other hand i would hate to have my water break in say the mall or a restaurant. lol and also being induced guarantess MH will be with me for it all.

  • I think as long as your main concern is the health of your baby, you can weigh pros and cons to your heart's content! I don't think anything you mentioned was weird or wrong. And I can understand mourning the loss of having a labor that starts on its own. Even though it might seem like a small thing, it's the loss of an idea and I can totally understand being a little disappointed. You will be so excited about meeting your baby though!

  • Even though I hope my LO will come when he wants, having an induction date is the only thing keeping me sane right now.  Since your induction is for your health it's really the best way to go.  Besides, as far as I can tell from this point waiting to go into labor is the absolute pits....I feel like I've pulled the pin out of a granade and I'm just walking around holding the damn thing!

  • I don't want to end up being induced for several reasons, but one is definitely what you said - not having that excitement of saying "honey, it's time". While it would be nice to know the date so that my parents could make travel arrangements and be here for sure, I just hope I'll be able to go into labor on my own and not need to worry about induction. My sister was induced and her labor and delivery were picture perfect - so it can still work out just fine and I hope all goes well for you Viv! But I definitely don't think feeling that way is wierd at all.
  • Honestly, before being on this board, I never knew there were so many false alarms! Induction is looking up in my opinion! I think I just might go crazy with dissapointment if I kept getting my hopes up that 'this is it' and again and again, no it wasn't.

  • I also would rather not have an induction.  Obviously, what I really want is to have a safe labor and delivery for LO and me- bottom line.  But I do hope that I will go into labor on my own.  I am sure this may change as I get closer to my due date, especially if I have no progress.

My mom thinks I will be just like her and that LO will be past due.  I was 15 days late when I was born, but that was back when they didn't induce.  If my LO is that snug, I might be very ready for an induction.  But at this point I would like for it to go naturally.  We'll see!

  • I'll be on heparin too (currently on lovenox) and originally my midwife also said I would need to be induced at 39 weeks, but we moved and I got a new OB and he said that induction wasn't necessary.  That the heparin will probably be out of my system by the time the baby is actually born and that even if it's not that it's pretty easy to reverse the effects of the drug.  Is it something your OB is even willing to discuss?  For me it was a really big deal, especially since I'm planning on going natural so it was such a relief when he said that.
  • Viv - I agree with PP, talk to your doctor if you want to go naturally.  I'm on hep now after switching this week from lovenox and before my blood pressure concerns popped up getting me put in the hospital, I was not going to be induced. I was going for a natural childbirth and my doctor said being on hep is no reason to induce.  GL!
