Anyone prescribed Bactrim DS for UTI? Concerned...

I do indeed have a UTI and the doctor I used to go to called in a script for Bactrim DS since my midwife is not in the office today. This med is a schedule C and some of the stuff I've read says NOT to take and other stuff says to discuss the benefits/risks w/your doctor. Of course he is already gone for the day! I need to get going on something before this UTI gets any worse, but I don't want to take something that's not safe. Just wondering if anyone else has been prescribed this during pregnancy.

Yes, that is what my midwife prescribed.  She said it was perfectly safe and the only reason its on the C list is because it is contraindicated for late pregnancy (think week 38 or later).

I was prescribed Amoxicillin.

Yep - that is what I was prescribed.  I remember reading something on the sheet that is was not recommended during 3rd trimester or later in the pregnancy.

Okay thanks! This makes me feel better. Wanted to make sure it was not just a fluke.

I wouldn't take a class C without discussion - you COULD call the pharmacy and discuss with the pharmacist and find out their perspective or call the OB on call and discuss. 

When I had a UTI in the 2nd trimester I took something that started with an A...I think it was amoxicillian plus something with it.

I took it in first tri with a UTI.

Oh yay! My midwife emailed me back (I LOVE that I can email her and she responds) and she said it's perfectly fine...just not in 3rd Tri when you're close to labor.
