Pregnant after 35

Vent: Someone is watching me

My boss knows that this pregnancy has been really tough and he's been extremely supportive about being out or being late whenever I wasn't feeling well.  He's pleased with my job performance and knows that he really does ask a lot of me when I'm here.

Today I went to get some lunch to bring back and on the way back ran into a "kid" that I work with.  He is no more than 22, if even that.  He asked how long I got for lunch.  I told him an hour but because I came in late on Monday I wasn't taking a full hour.  PLUS, which he doesn't know, I have my u/s on Friday and will miss some time for that as well.

He has the nerve to say "Yeah I've noticed that you come in late a lot and it seems to be on Mondays.  I guess you like to sleep late huh?"  Really, he did.  Actually smarta$$ I like to SLEEP which is very hard when everytime I roll over in bed I'm in terrible pain or when I first get up in the mornings I can barely walk.

I actually don't know how I remained calm.  But I did and proceeded to tell them that my hours depend on how I'm feeling.

I'm so pissed though.  My boss has never said anything.  You know why?  Because I work my a$$ off when I'm here and always make up the time I missed.

What can't he mind his own damn business?

Ugh!!

Re: Vent: Someone is watching me

  • I have several co-irkers like that.  I don't actually report to anyone in our local office and basically my team "rents" a workspace for me at the business center.  My team is scatered all over the country and has the option to work from home whenever we choose to, but I usually go to the office for social interaction or to just get out of the house.  There are at least 4 ladies who love to pass comments like "oh, felt like making an appearance today?" or "must be nice to come and go as you please".  Um, yes actually it is pretty F-ing good thank you!  I would gladly trade my workload with them, since on a good week I can put in 60+ hours of actual work!  Grrrrr!

Don't sweat it - your boss knows you rock and this little turd doesn't matter :)
