Pregnant after a Loss

So you know you're a little ocd when you consider this maybe????

Okay so I have 30% off to Old Navy on Friday and they have sooooo many cute boy and girl things out right now.  So cute that I am considering buying a few of each and then returning the ones that I don't need once I know the gender in another two weeks or so. Crazy?  Or just being a smart shopper since I have such a good percentage off?  WDYT?

  • I have done the same (last year, before the m/c) I would go to the mall and if any super sales were in effect on baby clothing I went ahead and bought.  I have quite a bit of girl and boy baby clothing - from Zara, Macy's, Old Navy, Children's Place, Gymboree.. I just couldn't pass up things that were like $2 or $4 when they are normally $15 or more.... with this pregnancy I have not bought anything that is for a particular gender.  Anyway, I believe I have enough.  What we don't need with this baby we will hang on to, in case we have another.  And if not, can surely give them away as gifts or try to sell them on E-Bay or at a Consignment Shop.  I say go for it!  But you are talking to a compulsive shopper :)

  • I dont think I'm going to buy any clothes until after my shower because I know these people...I'll be overloaded.  Plus, I'm getting hand-me-downs from multiple people.

That's a good point. I think I am going to aim to buy clothes that are all 6 months and bigger. I'm sure that I'll get a lot of little sizes at showers, etc.

That's what I would do, but I am also a compulsive shopper.

  • I'd do it! Go for things like jeans and stuff too, especially the bigger sizes... they'll fit at some point! I'd gotten a few boy things before we found out we were having a girl. Mostly at garage sales and stuff. Most we are giving to some friends of ours who are having a boy (they're giving us any girl things they've picked up), but some, I'm keeping for when we do have a boy.

    Have fun shopping!

Ditto!  Plus, my thinking is why should everyone else get all the fun?  Go ahead and buy some things for your LO.  Also, don't necessarily assume that everyone will get you small sizes - apparently all the people at my showers thought the same way, so now I have more clothes for over 3 months than I do for nb/0-3!

Yup, you'll get alot of little sizes at your shower so pick up some larger sizes when you're out!

  • I would say buy!  You can always send back or use the other clothes for baby gifts.

  • oh i'd totally do it.
  • Oh... I'd totally do it if they are bargains too good to refuse!!

Also, my friend told me that she got advise (and I also know from another friend that just had her LO in Sept), people never seem to give out newborn stuff for shower gifts, it always seemed to be 0-3 which was way to big for newborns.. but even still, when I had a local Steve & Barry's shut down near me, I stocked up on shower gifts for upcoming preggo women in my office for basement bargain prices ($2-$4 outfits) so even though I couldn't (and didn't want too) take them back, I had full intent to give out but I did already know they were all having girls and got 1yr size stuff too for them keeping in mind what the weather would be when their LO would be 9 or 12mths old.. but in your case, you can definately take back after your big u/s and you know the gender... but I'd be looking ahead in bigger sizes too..

  • I say smart, do it!
  • Smart shopper!!! That is the beauty of the return.
