I received the seasonal flu shot, but my doctor is strongly encouraging the H1N1 vac. as well. The office was supposed to receive a supply last month, but is still waiting for a shipment. The OB suggested I get it anywhere I could, ASAP.
In my area, it is only being offered at select locations across town, at varying days and times. The site last week was over-run with people, who ended up parking their cars on the side of the road and walking a mile or more to stand in line. It seems counter-productive to be in large crowds of people, waiting hours for the possibility of a shot. Wouldn't this cause a greater exposure to the flu anyway?
Another temporary "clinic" is being held tomorrow. I'm debating whether to brave the crowds or just wait for the Dr's office to obtain their supply. WWYD?
Re: Anyone having trouble getting the H1N1?
Agreed.
This! They were giving the shots to high school kids the other day. WTF? They don't need the shot, I do!
My OBs office has a limited supply and they are only giving it to those who are 29 weeks + pregnant.
They were giving the H1N1 mist out at work the other day....lots of good that will do me!
Hopefully more will be shipping out soon...
This. Some medical group is going to provide the vaccine to my office. They have only 25 available. I signed up for one, but so did 24 other ppl, who are healthy adults who are not high risk in the least bit. Meanwhile, my OB still doesn't have any for her PG patients. So irritating. You would think that the CDC and medical community would distribute a limited supply of an important vaccine to those at high risk first, which would be the OB offices!
I know it's the private industry that makes the vaccine but, the CDC should not have created a frenzy but saying the vaccine would be out mid-Oct.
In my opinion, it's a little too late already. EVERYONE is sick. While in Target yesterday motrin, tylenol and thermometers were wiped off the shelves.
This sounds weird but, I am *thankful* to have caught it from my son. I'm also thankful for Tamiflu.
Three weeks later, I still have a nagging cough. I can't imagine what I would be like without Tamiflu! This household has had the seasonal flu vaccine and contracted H1N1. Our immune system should be super-charged now.

It's tough to find in L.A.-- commercial pharamacies don't have it yet, they say they will get some in the next week or two. ? The county is giving out free shots at selected clinics in different reaches of the area each day, but my friend went yesterday & it took standing in line for 3 hours for his 2 year old to get the shot. ?FWIW he does not recommend standing in line for 3 hours with a 2 year old.
I just got the seasonal flu shot yesterday, and it was very difficult to find that also. I got it at a Walgreen's, after telling them I was pregnant, but while waiting there, I saw them turn away two different customers who asked for the flu shot--they said they didn't have it. ?Very weird... ?So I hope I can find the H1N1 shot somewhere in the next week or two, and you can bet when I ask for it, the first thing I'll say is "I'm pregnant and I'm looking for the H1N1 shot" so they don't blow me off... ?
?
They still don't have it at my OB's office in Boston Mass- so much for this being a health care mecca. They keep telling me to check back in 2 weeks. My DH couldn't get a regular flu shot anywhere in Boston so I begged my mom and she got one for him. My mom's a pediatrician in another state with direct patient care but even she hasn't gotten any H1N1 supply yet. Not sure where my siggy went but I am 27 weeks along.
