We ordered all the nursery furniture when I was 20 weeks, knowing that it was going to take at least 12 weeks for it to be delivered, so we used that to pace ourselves.
We were turning our guest room into the nursery, so we started slowly clearing out the room when I was about 25 weeks. The painting didn't start until I was about 30 weeks (DH did most of the work), and the room was pretty much all put together when I was 35 weeks. You're going to get to a certain point where you'll be so big and uncomfortable, you won't want to do much, so I suggest getting an early start.
When ever you have time. I think I started mine right about 27-28 weeks and everything is done except for the crib and dresser have not been delivered yet.
A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

We started painting the day after we found out what we were having. We put in new carpet and re-did moulding. We were both on vacation so that's why we were sooo quick to paint. We are almost done. I just have to add somethings to the walls. My shower is Nov/8. Whatever nursery accesories we don't get from that we will purchase on our own. So I started at 20 weeks and hope to be done mid november and I'll be 32 weeks.
We started at 20 weeks but we need to be done by 34 weeks.
It also depends how much you are doing.
I've found that we go through a spurt where we get a lot done in a week or two and then we go several weeks without doing anything.
We got furniture around 20 weeks, picked out bedding around 22 weeks, painted and did chair rail 25-26 weeks. We also restained a piece of furniture around 26 weeks too.
Now we just have a ton of smaller projects to do/pick out, like hanging curtain rods and curtains, hanging out the letters I made for his name, making/buying some wall art, getting/hanging a shelf or two, finding/hanging some picture frames.
I started around 28 weeks and it was a little late for me. I'm really not good at decorating at ALL so there was a lot of trial and error. I wish I'd started earlier! I'm still working on it, although it's mostly finished.
After 7 failed IUIs, IVF w/ ICSI worked!!
I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.
DH started 2 weeks ago (week 27) and we ordered the furniture at 24 weeks. So far he has the hardwood floor, baseboard and crown molding done. Still has the beadboard, chair rail, painting and closet left to do. I'm thinking he still has a good 4 weeks to go before I can get in there and organize the closet and do the details. It's driving me nuts, so I would get started as soon as you can!
