DD hates her swing, so she's never been in it longer than 10 minutes. But I know a lot of babies sleep in their swings overnight.
I think the important thing is that the total amount of time in carriers (carseat, swing, bouncy seat, etc.) should be limitied. Babies need time to lie on the floor and learn to use their limbs. But, for a newborn, the amount of time needed on the floor is probably pretty small. They just want to be warm and cozy so they can sleep while imagining they're still in the womb!
If the baby's sleeping and happy, I say leave her be!
my lo spends the majority of his day in it. He is happy, what else can I ask for...i get him out just to hold him but if he;s happy and i can get stuff done then i dont see any harm
Re: How long to keep newborn in swing?
