Where do you go during the cold months?

I am home with my 1 year old son 2 days a week, and have no idea what to do with him now that it's cold outside.  During the summer, we were outdoors all day...There isn't a Gymboree near us, are there any other baby "gyms" in the area?  We live in Lowell, but are willing to drive for something good to do.  Our library doesn't offer activities on my 2 days home :(

Thank you for your help!!!

  • I would still go to the library! Not sure about yours, but ours has a very nice play area for littler kids - Wooden puzzles, board books, kid-sized tables, etc.  Its nice just to let DD roam free.

I also love B&N! The kids department can be a fun time.  Just make sure you pick up after your little tornado..(I used to run a B&N kids dept and even now as a mom, I find myself unable to resist picking up after other people, lol)

  • I am not sure if you are willing to travel but there is the Butterfly Garden in Westford.  That is always fun and is small enough to allow a little one to roam free.

  • I could have posted this!!  I live in Chelmsford and am always searching for things to do with my 13 month old.  There is a Gymboree in Acton (about a 10-15 minute drive).  I take ds to a class at the Nashua Y (called Jamboree) that is like Gymboree but much cheaper.  The Andover Y offers similar classes.  Also, check out story hour at other libraries because they'll offer different times (Chelmsford is on Wednesdays).  We also like the indoor playground at the Pheasant Lane mall.  And Perpetual Motion indoor playground in Lowell.
