Do you have a signature item you make around the holidays? My baking efforts in recent years have been mediocre. I want to figure out something that's super yummy that I can make every year for gifts to friends & neighbors, etc that is like my signature item that I make every year.
If you have something you love, and care to share the recipe for, I'd love to hear about it! TIA!
Re: NBR: Signature recipe?
I haven't done these in a year, but these were my signature holiday gift for coworkers.
Applesauce cake in a jar: https://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,186,157185-226205,00.html
Pumpkin Spice cake in a jar: https://www.razzledazzlerecipes.com/christmas/gifts/pumpkinsp.htm
I always put a little note in the bags that tells the recipient that they are welcome to keep the jar if they will use it. If not, please return it to me so I can use it again. Most people return the jars to me, so I don't have to go & buy jars every year.
I usually put one of each type of cake in a bag, so each person got 2 different cakes.

Mine is a 7 layer very old timey apple stack cake that my grandmother taught me how to make. It takes hours and I was SO tired doing it last year when I was pregnant. I wouldn't recommend it unless you like slaving over food
My point in posting though was to say that this year I think I am going to make the Pioneer Woman Apple Dumplings for my grandmother's house since she still makes the cake for that party. Those are so yummy!
ETA: Yeah so I missed the word gift in your original post. Just ignore me

I've been making the same Dark Chocolate Espresso Truffles for 6 years now as gifts for friends and extended family. They are easier than you think and so decadent you can get by with giving a few to each person.

My stepmom always makes Oatmeal Cakes to give away...it's sort of a coffee cake for breakfast. I bet she makes 40-50 each Christmas. It's so fun when people start expecting these food gifts from you.
Here is a relevant post. I made mini banana nut breads and gave them out. I got the dishes from Micheals for $1 each and wrapped them in cellophane and tied a ribbon. I can give you that recipe if you want. Everyone loved them and said how moist they were and I gave out the recipe to lots of people.
Actually, here is a picture.
Candy Cane Truffles.... SO yummy and easy! They also look very pretty and they look way more difficult than they are
I go to Michael's and get the boxes (that look like Chinese take out containers) and put a cute tag/bow.
These can be made in huge batches and are great out of the freezer!
