Pregnant after 35

Scare yesterday!

I had the scare of my life yesterday, i was in my office working and felt a cramp then had to go to the restroom and when i wiped i saw blood, I called my DR and since he was out at a convention the ladies in the office told me to go to ER,i immediately grabbed my stuff and went next door, I happen to work next door to a hospital, well to make a long story short, i was examined and heard baby's heartbeat and was told to take it easy for a couple of days and stay off my feet! What bothered me was the paperwork that i was given to take home and it said "possible miscarriage", i told the nurse that i was not told "possible miscarriage" and the DR kindly came and explained to me that i was not miscarrying, the paperwork that was given to me was just to give me instructions......whatever that means!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Anyways........i'm a little confused and venting! But i'm fine and the baby is fine and that is all that counts!

  • I'm glad everything is OK  - that must have been so scary.  I think they have things coded/categorized and just don't think how it's going to sound/feel to you when you read it.  But that's frustrating to see that.

  • From what I've been told, any bleeding in early pregnancy is labeled as a "possible miscarriage" no matter how minor it is. It's just standard medical jargon-- but it sucks.

  • I glad everything is great! After one visit to the OB my chart was marked threatened abortion, I just tried to relax and not think about it until my next visit. Take it easy though.
  • Don't stress, if that's possible.  A LOT of us had bleeding in the early stages.  I bled for 10 straight days on and off right at 8 weeks.  Stupid body just thought it needed one more period, apparently.   But it's actually a lot more common than you'd realize.

As for the terminology, that's pretty much what they have to code it by when there's any kind of  bleeding--I think my paperwork said "threatened miscarriage"  but baby was/is just fine.
