With DC#2, how long was it before you were comfortable?

Meaning, could do things with both kids without wanting to pull your hair out?  I really hate the newborn stage.  My DD wants to sleep all the time, but she doesn't know how to put herself to sleep yet so she fusses constantly and/or screams her head off  when she wants to sleep.  It's so hard with a 2 year old running around.  I can't wait until she's out of this stage!

  • I'll let you know when it happens!

Kidding.  Sort of.  It takes more than twice the time to get things done/packed/errands accomplished, etc.  But now that DD is 6 mo. and is able to sit up, entertain herself, DS is potty trained and we are into the groove of a routine, it's getting easier.  Those first weeks/months seemed impossible though!  Hang in there!

  • My son was the same age your son is now when my DD was born..I'm still not totally comfortable taking both kids alone yet since Jonathan can run away from me when i'm holding Lauren.  But, it's much easier than it was in the beginning.  I took them both to a store by myself i think when DD was a couple mos old...good luck...it does get easier!!

  • I had to get out of the house daily to stay sain, so pretty much right away.  My DS LOVED the sling; we could do anything with him in it!

  • Ugh! The first 8 weeks were soooo hard. DD was a monster because she wasn't getting enough sleep (thanks to DS). After 8 weeks or so we got into a better groove and once she was sleeping enough things got so much easier. I'd say once she was 4 months or so things were much much easier. Hang in there! When you are in the thick of things it feels like things are never going to get easier/better. Looking back on it now, it doesn't feel like it was so bad :-)

  • We went for a lot of walks in the double stroller!! Oh boy, that was the hardest time in my life. Now the youngest is 2, and I STILL don't take them certain places alone. They run in different directions.
  • Hang in there!  I think that as soon as #2 was on a reliable napping schedule, life got easier.  From what I can remember I felt the same way when I had just one!
