I kind of want it early, and my doc is willing to so it, but I am worried about it being too early, no hb, and having it be normal.......and I am freaking out for a week for nothing.
She recommended 7 weeks, but said she would do one at 6......but warned about the above scenario......
just curious about all of your experiences.....
Thanks.
Re: How early did you have your first u/s?
The earliest my RE would do one is 6 wks 4 days and only if you are very, very sure when you ovulated and if your betas are high enough. Otherwise, she waits until at least 7 wks if not 7.5 weeks.
She will not do one at 6 wks on the nose for the 'you might not see the hb reason'. She feels it is just not worth the stress. I agree with her.
With my son I had one at 5wks1day (based on O). All we saw was a sac, which is normal. At 5wks5days, we saw a baby measuring 6wks with no h/b (sac was measuring small also (4wks 4days)). We were given a 50% chance. At the f/u u/s at 7wks we saw baby and h/b!
With this little girl, we had an u/s at 5wks5days (based on O). She measured 5wks6days and had a h/b ~120bpm. Pretty early for a good h/r, but I was thrilled.
The only reason I had those early u/s during the 5th week with my pregnancy is because I had spotting/bleeding early on. Otherwise, I would wait until around 7 weeks, just to be sure of what you are seeing. The week in limbo with my DS was very long and scary.
I had my first at 5w1d just to rule out another eptopic, we saw a sac with a tiny tiny yolk sac in it, you could barely see it. Then again at 6w1d and saw a baby with a hb!
GL!
