Does anyone have a "cure" for ulcers/canker sores?

I have ulcers in my mouth on the side where my root canal was performed.  I looked it up online and it seems that they can occur after trauma to a certain area.  Given the fact that I needed 15 shots to deaden the area, this is probably why I have them.  I have to say they're probably just as bad, if not worse, than the root canal.  Any suggestions on how to get rid of these bastards?  We're going on a week now.  I just want to be able to eat normally again!

I've been doing salt water rinses and some other medicated prescription rinse that I got, and it's not helping.

  • how was the actual root canal?  I see you survived but it doesn't sound like it went too well!

  • Those hurt so badly.  Call the dr and have him call in an rx for you.  The over the counter meds are worthless.

  • There is something called L. Lysine (you can get it at any pharmacy). That's what my mom always takes for canker sores and she swears by it. I've taken it a few times and it definitely seemed to help. I'm unsure of the dosage though.

  • peroxide will help for a bit, also a non-alkie mouthwash works too, GL I've been there
  • Oh geez, Nat. What else can go wrong? I'm so sorry about all this. I hope they go away quickly...still got any of the "good" drugs? Maybe have one- or a half one. ((HUGS))

In other news..I got Anna's present. I hope she loves it. I think you will. :)

The procedure wasn't bad at all, actually.  My tooth feels fine now - it's just the area around it that hurts now.

Lol @ "good drugs" - even Loritab can't help these suckers.  Trust me, I've tried.

Aww, yay!  I'm looking forward to K's birthday party this weekend.  Do we need to bring anything or do you need us to get there early to help setup or anything?

Yep - totally agree with L-Lysine. It works for me within a day.

    Ugh. Feel better!

You can come early if you want...but only to play! We're doing minimal decorations and ordering pizza- since the place is so cool in itself. Also, the party is only 1.5 hours, but you can stay all day at the place if you want. :)

  • ouchie, ouchie, cankers hurt.  I get them regularly.  I use Zilactin sometimes.  Also, good old fashioned Listerine helps me.  It stings while I use it, but it seems to numb the sore up pretty well for a while.
