Random post, but I was just looking at the BRU ad for this week and noticed that they have humidifiers and the like on sale....
Do I really need to get a humidifier for the nursery? I live in south Georgia, where the humidity is stifling almost year-round. Is this a necessity or just another needless "recommendation" to get more money flowing in the baby gear business? I could see using it occasionally in the winter, but I'm just not sure.
Thanks.
Re: Do I need a humidifier in the nursery?
I saw that ad too and thought it was a good deal!
Anyway, we have used ours everyday during the winter with DD, but we also are in the northeast where it gets really, really cold and dry. DD is susceptible to nosebleeds, has eczema and a couple other health issues so for us it was sort of a must-have.
That said, we didn't register or buy one until we knew we needed it, and with you being in southern Georgia, I'm just not sure you will need one.
Thanks everyone!
Sounds like they're just another unnecessary piece of gear to waste money on. Y'all just saved me a few bucks.
At the baby care class we went to on Saturday, the nurse said if the baby is congested, you can put one in there, but only a cool mist one.
I live in KY which has a 80% humidity a lot of the time... we're getting a cool mist one for our bedroom, which is where DD will be sleeping. This is not only for her, but for me as well. Our apartment is SUPER dry and I wake up with a dry throat and super dry sinus's every morning, and have extremely dry skin... so I think she'll probably need it too.
My mom (who's an RN) recommends them for whenever baby is sick, but if your house isn't overly dry... I wouldn't worry!
