Coupon question part 2. Is this tacky...?

We are taking my dad out to dinner to The Melting Pot. I have a coupon for a free entree.

Something makes me feel silly for using a coupon when taking someone out to dinner, but maybe I am just weird?

WDYT?

  • I would use it. The gesture of taking your dad out isn't any less nice if you get the dinner for free. Buy him an extra drink if you feel bad.

  • Yeah, your probably right... I over think things too much sometimes.

  • Maybe...if it was a date...or your boss, etc.

It's your dad though, use it :)

  • In that particular case, if you're wanting to be more discreet about the coupon, I'd actually wait until the bill came, then slip the coupon in with the credit card.  Most likely, the server will just deduct the amount w/o even saying anything about the coupon :)

    Enjoy your dinner!
